Miss Advised ;-)

Yes as in the show on Bravo. I know I work at an investment firm. I should be reading Fortune Magazine not watching a trashy Bravo TV show. But I have to admit, this show is hilarious. The Real Housewives of Whatever can suck it.

If you haven’t seen this show let me enlighten you. It chronicles the lives of three love “experts” who can’t seem to make their own love lives work. The first is a somewhat annoying perfectionist who clings too hard to every man who says hello to her. The second is a sex expert with a successful radio show who can’t seem to wrap her head around the idea of settling down with one person. The third is a matchmaker who creates rules for dating yet doesn’t seem to follow any of them. Now who I am to judge, right? But I figure they signed up for judgement the moment they agreed to do a show on national TV.

Anyways this show makes me laugh, cry, and happy all at the same time. It is hilarious to watch these women fail so miserably at the thing they claim to be experts in. But at the same time it makes me wonder, am I just like them? They try so hard to find love and fail EVERY TIME. Am I doomed to the same fate as them?

We all have this idea in our head of what our love life is supposed to look like. Thanks to all of the sappy romantic movies out there, we all believe some great guy will come along and sweep us off our feet. We have a bunch of romantic ideas in our head of moonlit walks and sunsets overlooking the ocean. We imagine slow motion scenes of running on the beach with our hair blowing in the wind. But is real life really like that? Can we all find our love story or do most of us end up like the women on Miss Advised??

Now I’ve had some killer romantic moments in my life but they seem to have happened far a few in between. One here, another there and another random one over there. None of them connect into a love story. Each are more of short romantic monologue. So do men just suck or are we just expecting too much?

If you have the answer, feel free to enlighten me because I sure as hell don’t know what I’m doing. But I guess neither do the women on Miss Advised.
